Mr. Harding Proposes

"Mr. Harding Proposes" is a Regency romance in the classic style.

My hero, Richard Harding, is a man who seems doomed to frustration. He finally works up the courage to propose to his childhood friend, and she thinks he's joking. He has to do it five more times before she finally takes him seriously, and then she still says no. Luckily, his satirical good humor holds his spirits up... at least until that final refusal.

My heroine, Georgiana Rowland, is a girl with a life full of stress. She's helping to launch her sister into the ton. She's in her third Season with no husband, despite her many charms, which brings her under her mother's constant disapproval. But that disapproval is nothing compared to the fuss when her mother discovers that Georgie is befriending the interesting, amusing, but scandalous Lady Shipton.

The story is about how Georgie triumphs over her troubles and finally accepts Richard's proposal - in her own way!

Notes:

Check out my friend Mr. Jester, decked out in authentic Regency style!

This book was written when I participated in National Novel Writing Month (aka Nano), which is an "honor" pledge among thousands of authors to attempt to write 50,000 words in 30 days.

I decided to self-publish the book, not because I didn't think it was good enough for traditional publishers, but because (a) a romance without sex isn't very marketable these days, (b) I'm too lazy to go through all the effort of finding an agent etc., and (c) I didn't want to wait over a year, maybe two, to see the book in print.
